About the National Disability Card

Who is eligible for a National Disability Card?

If you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities then you are eligible. ‘Substantial’ means more than minor or trivial; ‘long-term’ means 12 months or more. The National Disability Card is available to individuals living anywhere in the UK, including England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Apply for your National Disability Card here.

What documentation is required for a National Disability Card?

We ask applicants to send us one piece of evidence that shows that they have a disability. Examples of documentation accepted include:

- Back of your Blue Badge
- Disabled persons' Freedom Pass
- Disabled persons' Bus Pass
- A letter from your doctor or other relevant medical letter
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA) decision letter
- War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement letter
- Personal Independence Payments (PIP) letter
- Other relevant documentation showing you are disabled

How much does the National Disability Card cost?

Each card costs £20, and you can add a spare card to your order for £10. The shipping cost is £1.95. If your application is rejected you will automatically receive a full refund. We accept all major debit and credit cards as well as Google and Apple Pay.

Can my carer get a National Carers Card? Are there any promotions?

Absolutely! Once you apply for the National Disability Card, we send you a discount code for 25% off a National Carers Card (£15 instead of £20) for your carer or companion. Apply for your National Carers Card here.

Is it possible to renew my National Disability Card prior to expiry?

Yes, you can submit an application for a new card a few weeks prior to its expiration to prevent any interruption, particularly if you have upcoming travel plans. The new card will be valid for two years starting from the expiration date of the old card. Renew your National Disability Card here.

My National Disability Card expired a while ago. Can I still renew it?

You can renew your card any time. Your new card will be valid for two years from the date you renew it. Renew your National Disability Card here.

What documents do I need to renew my National Disability Card?

You do not need to provide any additional documentation when you are renewing your card.

How often do I need to renew my National Disability Card?

Cards must be renewed every two years. We'll send you a reminder before your current card expires with instructions on how to renew, or you can start your renewal here.

What if my details have changed since my last card was issued?

No problem; please provide your new details during the renewal process.

What are some examples of hidden disabilities?

Hidden or invisible disabilities are any disabilities that are not immediately visible to others. These may include fibromyalgia, chronic pain, hearing loss, autism, ADHD, gastrointestinal disorders, epilepsy, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, brain injury, and many others. This list is not intended to be exhaustive but to give some examples. Individuals with invisible disabilities may be eligible for the National Disability Card and Verified Invisible Disability Lanyard if their hidden disability has a substantial, long-term impact on their ability to perform daily activities.

Is this an ADHD card?

Thousands of our Cardholders have ADHD, which is a recognised disability. If your ADHD has a significant, long-term effect on your daily life, then you are eligible for the National Disability Card. You will need to show one piece of evidence of your disability during the application process. Please see the questions above for examples of the documentation we accept.

Is this an autism card?

Many of our Cardholders are individuals with autism. If your autism has a significant, long-term effect on your daily life, then you are eligible for the National Disability Card. During the application, you must provide one form of evidence demonstrating your disability. Please refer to the questions above for examples of accepted documentation.

How do I replace my lost, stolen, or damaged National Disability Card?

If your National Disability Card has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you can request a replacement by filling in our Card Replacement Form. There is a small charge of £10 to cover admin, materials. Once you've completed the form, we will send your replacement card via the Royal Mail. If you need further assistance, please contact us.

About Discounts & Disneyland Paris

Where is the National Disability Card accepted?

View all venues that accept the National Disability Card as proof of eligibility for concessions and discounts. Your card may also be accepted at other venues, at the organisation’s discretion. We recommend that you check with the venue before travelling. We are actively working on expanding our list of partners: if you would like your organisation to offer a concession exclusively to National Disability Cardardholders, please get in touch with us.

Can I use my National Disability Card to get a Disneyland Paris Priority Card?

Yes! Your National Disability Card is proof of eligibility for Disneyland Paris’ Priority Card, entitling you to 25% off your ticket or annual pass, plus priority access to shows and attractions. Learn how to apply for a Priority Card using your National Disability Card.

How do I apply for a Disneyland Paris Priority Card?

You can apply on the Disneyland Paris official website within up to a month from your trip. Alternatively, show your National Disability Card to staff at the entrance to the park when you arrive, and you can get a Priority Card then and there. Read more about how to apply for a Priority Card.

Can my carer get the Disneyland Paris Priority Card?

The Priority Card is for disabled visitors at Disneyland Paris, to help increase the accessibility of the park, so it belongs to the disabled visitor. However, when a carer accompanies a disabled visitor who has the Priority Card, the carer is also eligible for 25% off their ticket.

My National Disability Card was accepted at a venue that isn’t listed on your website. Can you add it to your list?

About Lanyards & RADAR Keys

What is a RADAR Key?

The RADAR Key is a specialised key that provides access to over 10,000 accessible public toilets across the UK. These toilets, part of the National Key Scheme (NKS), are designed to be easily used by individuals with disabilities, ensuring greater independence and convenience. The key is widely recognised and used to unlock facilities that are kept secure to prevent misuse and vandalism, guaranteeing that they remain clean and functional for those who need them most. Who is eligible for a RADAR Key?

We only offer RADAR Keys to National Disability or Carers Cardholders. This safeguard ensures that only those genuinely requiring access to disabled toilets can use them, effectively preventing misuse and vandalism. Order your RADAR Key here.

How to get a Disability Lanyard?

Who is eligible for a Disability Lanyard?

Our lanyards are available exclusively to Cardholders, meaning only those who have a genuine verified disability can wear them. Unlike other lanyard schemes that are open to anyone, our initiative prioritises authenticity and ensures that the lanyards are accessible only to individuals who genuinely require them. What documentation do I need to apply for a lanyard?

The lanyard application process is simple. If you already have a National Disability Card, all you need to do is enter the card number when ordering the lanyard. If you do not yet have a National Disability Card, please apply for one here, submitting the usual documentation, and select the lanyard(s) you wish to order at the end of the application form.

I don’t have a National Disability Card. Can I still buy a lanyard?

Our lanyards are exclusively available to Cardholders. This ensures the authenticity of the displayed messages and guarantees that only genuinely disabled individuals can benefit from them.

I am already a Cardholder. How can I buy a lanyard?

I haven’t applied for a National Disability Card yet, but I intend to. Can I still buy a lanyard?

You can order a lanyard simultaneously while applying for your card. Just select the lanyard you need at the end of the application form. Your lanyard will be dispatched only upon successful application approval; otherwise, you will receive a full refund. Read more about lanyards.

About your online account

Why do I need to create an online account?

Only Cardholders can create an online account. Creating an online account is optional. However, many of the offers and discounts from our partner brands can only be viewed by logging into your account. This is to ensure that only Cardholders can benefit from our partner offers.

Why do I need to login to view certain discounts?

Our partner offers are intended to make the lives of disabled people easier, and can only be used by Cardholders. We require Cardholders to login to view many of our discounts in order to ensure that only those the offers are intended for can benefit from them. 

Can I update my card details on my online account?

The details shown on your National Disability Card (such as your name or date of birth), or your delivery address, cannot be changed from your online account. To change any of this information, please contact us.

I didn’t receive an email asking me to create a password. How can I view Cardholder discounts?

If you are a Cardholder and have not received an email from us to create the password for your online account, please go through the following steps:

- Ensure you have been checking the correct email inbox. The email will be sent to the same email address you used for your card application.
- Check your spam folder. The email will come from Outseta (the technology partner we use to administer your online account)
- If you still can’t find the email, click ‘Login’ in our website menu and then choose ‘Forgot password’. Enter the email address you used to apply for your card, and follow the instructions. This will allow you to create a password for your account.

My login details aren’t working. How can I log in?

If you can’t login, please go through the following steps:
- Ensure you are using the email address you used for your card applicationEnsure you are typing in your password correctly
- Try to reset your password by clicking ‘Login’ at the top of our website menu, then ‘Forgot password’. Follow the instructions to create a new password.
- If you continue to have problems after following these steps, please contact us.
